Circle has introduced Paymaster, a new service enabling users to pay gas fees in USDC on the Arbitrum and Base networks. This innovative utility streamlines the transaction process, removing the need to manage multiple tokens across blockchains.

Paymaster allows developers to integrate USDC gas payments into their applications, providing a smoother user experience. It maintains reserves of native gas coins (e.g., ETH) to handle backend payments while accepting USDC from users.

Currently, Paymaster charges a 10% fee on gas payments but is free until June 30, 2025, offering a cost-effective opportunity for adoption. Initially available for smart contract accounts, Circle plans to extend support to externally owned accounts after the Ethereum Pectra upgrade.

Circle also intends to expand Paymaster’s reach to Ethereum mainnet, Polygon, and Solana, enabling gas payments across multiple blockchains from a single network.

With Paymaster, Circle aims to enhance blockchain usability and drive broader adoption by simplifying gas payments. Developers and users alike can benefit from this efficient, user-friendly solution, paving the way for seamless interactions within the decentralized ecosystem.
